Municipal Liquor Store Bartender Job Description
Type of Position/ Shifts: Part time/ On-call/ Fill-in, Nights-Weekends
Education required: High School diploma/ GED. Completion of bar tending school preferred but not required.
Duties: Takes orders and mixes and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to customers from behind the bar and at tables around the bar. Heats up frozen and pre-prepared food for customer consumption on-site and for carry-out. Handles retail sales of off-sale liquor. Collects money for purchases. Conducts charitable gambling activities. Maintains integrity of operation. At end of day, completes daily state mandated gambling control record. Maintains adequate stocking of all merchandise including rotation of stock. Assists in keeping all areas of the store and bar area clean and in good repair. Washes dishes as necessary. Notifies manager of needed maintenance and repair work. Promptly reports all accidents, property damage, insurance claims and law violations to the Liquor Store Manager. Remains informed of laws and regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages and charitable gambling tickets. Remains informed of health and safety regulations regarding food and beverage handling and preparation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be 18 years of age or older. Knowledge of bar tending and mixing drinks. Knowledge of bar/ restaurant equipment. Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations related to serving liquor, charitable gambling and health and safety in serving food. Cash handling experience.
Other Skills: Requires the ability to meet the public’s needs while maintaining composure and remaining personable. Must be able to multi-task while remaining flexible and patient. May occasionally deal with interpersonal conflicts or customer situations requiring the ability to diffuse or resolve situations to a satisfactory outcome for all parties involved.
Machines, Tools Equipment, Electronic Devices, Software Required: Cash register, lottery, gambling ID machine, Credit Card Machine, ATM, Alarm, Systems, food storage and heating equipment.
Physical Requirements: Extended periods of standing. Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
